Transformation of a bunker at Bergenhus Festning.
Turning the defensive fortification into its original opposite, a recreational place - a bath house. The solid concrete structure is left almost intact to keep the strong visual identity of the building. The few openings in the façade and roof are placed to work as a looking glass to the outside world, and at the same time daylight inside the building - changing the atmosphere according to the seasons. Materials, such as the copper plated door, were chosen with the intent to tell the story about a new life within the old walls. The project is inspired by Peter Zumthor and The Therme Vals.
